Ilwaco to Grays Harbor...

Monday, July 1, 2002

We left Ilwaco at 5:00 and headed for the open ocean. Motoring was terrible, we were headed into the wind, Glenn got a little too sick, and the radar died. Outside of that everything was great. A mighty Coast Guard helicopter hovered about 100 yards away, thumping and spraying ocean everywhere. We were about 30 miles out, and they just wanted to see how we were doing. A Mola Mola or Sunfish that was about 2 feet long graced our presence, but no other signs of life besides gulls. The Pacific was a bit unforgiving that day and we decided to head into harbor, Grays Harbor.
