Clam Bay to Gibsons Landing...

Monday, July 22, 2002

Today was a full day of things happening. We woke up and pulled anchor from Clam Bay, but because there was a small craft advisory for the Strait of Georgia we had to find another way to get north. The only option was Dodd Narrows between Mudge Island and Vancouver Island. Check out this action sequence. The second bit of excitement was crossing the Strait of Georgia, despite the small craft advisory. We tried to pull into Nanaimo Harbor, but they were all full. We passed under several floatplanes in there little airport on our way out to the Strait. Crossing the strait was a joy, the wind was in our favor, and we had the boat up to 8 knots all the way across. We settled nicely in Gibson Landing where we had to raft up to a fishing boat because they were pretty packed too.
