Grays Harbor to La Push...

Wednesday July 3, 2002

With propeller in place we headed back to sea with a few extra knots per hour thanks to the new propeller. 17:10 we were interrupted by huge log thumping several times across the bottom of the Sergeant Lewis. We hit it pretty hard and were relieved when water didn't come shooting up from the hull. The ocean was much calmer today, and we put the sail up from time to time. We were still heading right into the north wind, but the new propeller improved our time anyway. The trimaran has tremendous stability, and when the main sail was reefed it stabled even more. We made it to La Push at 19:30. La Push was...small...back watery...and uh...small… The kind of place where kids throw firecrackers at each other and the parents don’t seem to care.
